Trading, like all other forms of investing, carries risk. It is through that very risk that profits may flow. An understanding of the interconnected and inseparable nature of risk and return is fundamental to profitable trading. Making money is one thing, keeping it is another.
How Advanced Modules Work
Learn New Skills
The Thursday webinars are very interactive and are often student led. As long as you’re a member, you will be registered for them indefinitely, so you can log in anywhere in the world to share your work with fellow students.
Module II - Risk and Opportunity Management
We start Module 2 by exploring position sizing techniques, and the implementation of these on individual trades. Being a big reason why most new traders fail we shall elaborately cover both the theory and practicality of individual trade management
Week 2 carries on the topic of risk management, covering overall risk exposure in managing multiple positions. As one of the critical areas of trading, this week will be key in gaining a solid foundation in understanding how to maneuver the world of financial trading.
In week 3 we introduce our proprietary trade sizer. Trading, especially risk management can sometimes be mistakenly complex, especially when it involves numeric and calculations. The trade sizer makes the process of calculating trade sizes seamless.
There will always be opportunities in the world of Financial Trading, regardless of the market. However what do we look for when validating these opportunities? How do we ensure we aren’t gambling? How do we remain realistic in the eye of a potential profitable trade? Week 4 aims to answers these questions.
Module III - Entries and Exits
We start Module 3 looking at the first form of entries within our counter retail trading strategy. This week gives us a hands on feel for trade execution using the first of our methodologies.
Week 2 of entries looks at entering developed trends in a established trade. This is known as scaling in and hoping to profit of the second wave of a given trade.
EWT Exits, week 3 looks to provide a understanding at how and when to exit a early warning trade. This would be a market we would have entered at the earliest point, and seen mature up until a point we are ready to accept profits.
Closing exits and Module 3, week 4 examines the SMS form of exits. This may be the most difficult exit to understand as it acts as a bonus position from our initial EWT trades.
Module IV - Diversification and Brokerage selection
The final module of this series sees us examine diversification, which is a critical part of trading and also risk management. Week 1 of module 4 offers a insight into the process and landscape of asset and portfolio selection.
There are 100s/1000s of markets in which we can potentially trade, we look at the process of understanding the most liquid and the foundations of getting acquainted with a new market in which you may not historically had confidence trading.
Choosing a broker will be the most challenging aspect of our trading. The wrong choice could see us losing even before we place a single trade. We aim to go through the requirements in making this difficult but essential choice.
4 modules, 16 weeks , now over , so what is next? This week aims to lay the path to our futures in the world of financial trading.
I enrolled on the 10 part online Foundation Course with Shaw academy, covering financial trading. All the basics, including Forex, stocks and indices and interpreting Japanese candlesticks charts were covered in great detail.
I purchased the Introduction to Financial Trading course last year but unfortunately due to ill health I was unable to sign in to the lessons and I thought I would have to purchase the course again. Thankfully not! I contacted Shaw Academy and they were more than happy to register me on a future course.
Would definitely recommend the 10 part Online Foundation Trading Programme - really interesting topic with an excellent teacher and super nice support staff (you get the feeling that its okay to ask super stupid questions too, they are there to help with everything). A bit of an information overload at times, so it's worth checking out the webinar recordings afterwards and really focus! All in all however, a great investment and definitely worth your time.
I purchased (very reasonably) the 10 Part Online Foundation Trading Programme a few months ago. I was not able to listen to it live but went through it after the courses were posted on the internet and found it extremely insightful into the world of trading using Technical Analysis.
I am really enjoying The Foundation Trading Course. So far i would say it is the best of its kind for any potential trader because the lessons are such that it is helpful to new traders.
I've dabbled with trading on and off for a while now and although I have made profits, it's blatantly clear that my profits were more down to luck than knowledge. The foundation course offered by the team at Shaw Academy is both fascinating and exciting.
The team do a great job at cramming so much information into each hourly session. It never feels like cramming though and stays in the memory easily.
This review is for the Foundation Trading Programme. Great course, to help understand the way markets work.
Had the 4th webinar of the Foundation Trading Program tonight, and the team at Shaw Academy are doing an outstanding job teaching us the concepts, insights and techniques of Trading in an easy to understand way so that we can apply that knowledge later. Their professionalism and willingness to help resolve our queries is a mark of just how passionate they are at what they do and how much they want to educate others! Thank you
I am enrolled in the Online Foundation Trading Programme and although I am super busy i have been listening to the lectures while i work, i find that the lecturers are very engaging and present exceptionally well, I am surprised that i've even had phone calls by the academy which is supportive. I am only half way through but i am happy with the course and my account so far.
I am doing the financial trading and so far learned a lot reading japanese candle stick was a mystery before even really knowing why marke is called Bear or bull - I am half through and very pleased - I hope I get the presentations though !
As someone with very little experience with the stock market, I am finding Tom Daly's course The Foundation Trading Programme easy to follow and understand. Tom takes his time explaining each point of the lesson and gives real life analogies to help us understand even better.
