module 1

Diploma in Fashion Design




  1. The Fuss About Fashion

    This class on fashion design focuses on the definition of fashion and touches on the role it plays in everyday life. In it, you will take a closer look at the role of the fashion designer and other career opportunities in the industry. The basics of drawing and illustration will be introduced and you will draw your first flat fashion sketch.

  2. Inspiration Celebration

    This lesson pays special attention to research and inspiration and the value it adds to the design process. The moodboard will make its appearance and you will be encouraged to create your own using all the tips and tricks discussed.

  3. Delve Into Design

    This lesson focuses on the design elements, their importance, and how a designer can apply these elements to their designs. The lesson will be filled with amazing examples of how these elements can improve design to make it a piece that truly stands out.

  4. Finding Your Style

    In this lesson, you will learn all about style; from different clothing and fashion types to finding your own personal style. This fun exploration is the first step to owning your style and brand as a designer.

  5. Drawing From Inspiration

    This online class builds on the basics of fashion drawing and illustration. Here you will learn how to bring your sketch to life with colour and rendering techniques. You will also be introduced to the fashion figure and how to dress that figure with your fabulous designs.

  6. Material Things

    Get ready to explore all things material. This lesson focuses on the basics of textile theory with a fun experiment at the end of the lesson that will make you feel like a scientist.

  7. For the Love of Patterns

    Lesson 7 of this fashion design course is a practical and fun lesson. You will be introduced to pattern making and the different equipment used to create patterns. You will also put pencil to paper and create some blocks to be sewn in the next lesson.

  8. Ready, Steady, Sew

    This lesson is also a fun and practical lesson where you will be introduced to the humble sewing machine and get to sew some basic seams.

module 2

Intermediate in Fashion Design



  1. Hooked on History

    This lesson travels back in time to look at the different fashion eras and the design elements of each. After you have explored the evolution of fashion and its cultural significance, you will learn how to generate ideas from previous eras to create something new without appropriating any cultures.

  2. Trending

    If you want to be a trendsetter, you need to understand how trends work. In Lesson 2, you will look at the fashion trend cycle and differentiate between trends and fads. You will also learn how to identify new trends which will make you a designer who sets trends and doesn't just follow them.

  3. Colour Me Impressed

    Did you know that colours can make us feel all kinds of feelings? This lesson will explore all things colour, including the basic colour wheel, the psychology of colour, and how colour can enhance your design.

  4. Technical About Drawing

    This fashion design class builds on the basics of fashion drawing and illustration. Here you will focus on drawing your very own 9-head fashion figure. This is the time to experiment with different drawing styles and discover your own.

  5. Delve Into Design

    This lesson focuses on the principles of design, its importance, and how a designer can incorporate these principles into your design to create interest and make it stand out from the rest.

  6. Facing the Fabric

    How do you choose the right fabric for your design? In this online class, you will look at the different fabric properties, how they influence your design, and how to choose the perfect fabric to make your vision come to life!

  7. Finding a Pattern

    Design details like pleats, gathers, and folds take simple designs to the next level. In this lesson, you will learn how to add these design details to a basic pattern block.

  8. Behind the Seams

    Now that you know how to create design details on a pattern, you need to master constructing them in the garment construction phase. By incorporating these simple techniques, you can create a masterpiece out of a simple design.

Advanced in Fashion Design



  1. Style With Substance

    Eager to find out what silhouette looks best on your body type? This lesson will take a closer look at what fashion styling is and how to style different body types. A fun start to the advanced module of the fashion design course!

  2. The Future of Textiles

    What is the future of fabrics? This lesson is all about textiles, how they affect the earth, and fabric alternatives that will undoubtedly change the way we design, forever.

  3. Getting Crafty

    Are you curious about the possibilities of designing contemporary textiles and surfaces? If yes, this is the lesson for you! In this lesson you will explore different types of textile surface design techniques to get your creative juices flowing.

  4. Creating a Collection

    Do you dream about creating your own fashion collection? This lesson will discuss all the steps that will allow you to make your dreams come to life!

  5. Figuring It Out Digitally

    Do you ever wonder how some designers create fashion illustrations digitally? Before you become an amazing digital designer, you first need to get back to basics. In this lesson, you will learn how to use the pen tool, draw shapes, and create your first digital technical drawing.

  6. The Digital Designer

    This lesson builds on the basics and is all about figuring out how to take your fashion drawings and illustrations to the next level. In this lesson you will learn how to render your drawings to make them come to life.

  7. Designer's Block

    Grab your ruler and a pencil because it is time to draft basic pattern blocks. A good basic block is a gift that keeps on giving. For this lesson you will focus on drafting the perfect bodice, skirt and dress block, ready for you to transform into something fresh and eye-catching.

  8. Build a Portfolio

    Do you know the saying less is more? When creating a portfolio, it is important to focus on quality over quantity. This lesson pays special attention to what a portfolio is and the significant role it plays in your career as a fashion designer.

Proficient in Fashion Design



  1. Modification Station

    Magic happens when you take your basic pattern blocks and manipulate them to bring your vision to life. In the lesson we will explore different pattern making techniques to turn something ordinary into something extraordinary.

  2. From Drape to Dress

    Draping is an art, but turning that dress you have draped into a pattern is a skill. In this class on fashion design you will explore how to transfer a draped pattern onto paper for you to use again and again.

  3. The Art of Construction

    This lesson focuses on combining all the garment construction techniques learned in previous lessons to create a complete garment.

  4. The Business of Fashion

    To be able to build your own brand, you need to understand how the fashion industry operates. Lesson 4 will focus on exactly that.

  5. The Future of Fashion

    The fashion design industry is ever-evolving. Now that you understand how the fashion industry operates, you need to explore the future of fashion and keep up with the trends to make sure you build a brand that is sustainable and relevant.

  6. Marketing and Merchandising

    To be a successful designer, you need to be able to sell your clothes. This lesson on fashion design will explain how to market yourself and your brand with a focus on online channels and social media.

  7. Finding Your Niche

    In order to stand out from the crowd, you need to find your voice as a fashion designer. This lesson is all about finding your niche by doing some market research and really getting to know your buyer's persona.
